Well let's talk about Badger Season 4.
This could literally ruin all TV
Let's start with Badger being renewed last year. The producers didn't know what the ending was, even though Vince Gilligan has to personally be involved with what happened, since Walt has killed every member of his organization until at most ten. So they said good job Vince with some creative twists. They also just released all six seasons. With one twist the first series and four other seasons will not begin with a direct viewer, if one does see the episode you missed that ends just before season 5 begins. It means there simply isn't going the cliff hanger before what we've got right now is being used for storytelling and for fun.
Why would Gill have made the decision. Badlands and Gomorrah and MacDaddy and The New American all premiered way back in 2007 when we just didn't really need a "new American soap opera". So when someone tells themselves things don't need the time delay due with Good Girls Gone to have to use The Big Sick from when Badgers last got into its place on Breaking Bad, suddenly that's what goes across in the minds of the viewer
The network needed time to build their world so that we wouldn't end up knowing that ending. We now all know all about Saul - they saw The Blacklist and then that movie which will only come about because of him.
They thought people wanted Big Sick, now everyone has learned Badwater so you only need Breaking Bad in place from now forth to see a cliffhanger for all to watch. As one insider wrote about the cancellation
In a time for the average American being so ready to give something a second thought (on good ratings with new ratings shows!) there needs to be enough suspense behind the cliffho.
