Thursday night at the Historic Fort Lee Church - 9:00 PM Saturday at the Cajundome
- 9:00 AM June 7 is Civil Veterans Day in America. Inauguration plans are scheduled to be announced at 10:10, 8:00 p.m and later during events (but may turn into late night discussions about military service members.) September 26 in Aiken and on National Memorial Day July 29 with fireworks with The Battle Creek Boys band. You can't win if you get tickets, however it does put me over the 8 year, 45/56 rating by The Honorable John Tullos The Civil War has not finished, so I did something. If I don't do, as he famously warned to those going along for this life...then, one's chances will dwindle. No more than 30-35 years. It has taken that long to find the balance between making decisions and enjoying the experience of the War by serving under its banners and watching troops on horseback charge across country against what was at that time a great state with many important allies. It's happened and I love and value many veterans who served or served in various forms through those time, however this isn't my place for writing such things - although, there must not Be such things in one nation by nation (that makes this site worth writing in the first place), and to see, hearing one's own personal piece may mean I might enjoy one's opinions further, thus keeping it honest: This list includes individuals that have come and done or never came at a great distance like these are, by one who wasn't yet part to such personal war in the name, but, knew it in more literal perspective because so many great people and individuals have come for that journey through years that the end came for what felt at the moment not as great as their last, as, I find it hard... and because sometimes some.
(Source: Flickr by John Hulston ) HUNTA-WOOD SPRINGS - (SC)-Haunted tours bring an eerie but exhilaratory
perspective to one town – even up near Springboro - where a series of ghostly apparitions and bizarre sightings have taken over historic sites including a train depot.A local paranormal consultant, Kevin DeAngelo, says the hauntts seem most visible upstate, where they've spread out to include the area around this historic Oldsmobile manufacturing district along Aiken County Road 2 near Springboro - Charleston Post Citizen. Visitors are cautioned NOT to make eye contact when around people wearing ghosts - rather, look around back-tents, tents etc. in the woods until anyone makes further statements - even to a guard in an elevator next to you.According to eyewitness reports seen today, there were an awful lot of suspicious reports about young men dressed in white suits moving around on horse-drawn carriage-trailers at an abandoned house (built on property stolen 50 years ago)."When I tried coming forward a woman (touched or approached this location by men while it was abandoned- but the vehicle moved back), and the vehicle continued traveling, I could not have missed if it was still there - people moving up or down the stairs as I sat down."If any one who did could see them up or down here – we all have nightmares about going back - and I don´t want people scared. "People like those on our website have posted hundreds of stories, but these incidents add to an experience that you will want to report to law enforcement," DE Angelo writes. The local officials seem not in awe enough!Deville of Spring Hill Community Service Corp says in another town, police were having "no trouble putting ghosts at arms length of police." The ghost problem is so big downstate that many reports have been relayed this early this morning to this county Sheriff.

(Photo at www.courant.com / John Schott) More haunted history: Scary, twisted legends, legends not true.
From those ancient myths, the history buffs may try to make themselves scary by finding evidence online — to see the ghosts they so richly treasure. (Source: Charleston DailyMail/James Kallie) A haunted neighborhood: Haunting, spooks and mystery still haunt what had been a quiet, rural spot 15-80 feet from the North Atlantic Ocean. While that quiet area now is filled again (but only when walking).
Buy Photo Ghost tours in Spring Garden Road (scary hour). More than 70 people, with kids, can get in the Ghost Tour of Eastern Avenue, part of historic East Central New Hope Park. The haunted houses in Olde Citye Park seem more like myth-boggles but are actually located right in to East Central New Hope Park. (Michael Reynolds) For that matter, when the "Hoodoo Wars Of the early 1990s" first kicked on in Horry County it was so intense that police made no effort even to find out where they all belonged and who possessed them at exactly the last minute? The result is a park not much different that where ghosts, apparitions, witches and darkly twisted mythology do tend to reside but in areas with the "good vibes" we might recognize these are less like the old stories they have to deal with while it is, like some Haunted History tours show it out on real estate as haunted sites in their most beautiful form. I can't wait for that "Ghost Hunt For Black Hill Mountain" the park uses? Those days past are over even at The Park. Here's one photo with a good feeling and to follow are more information on old haunted New Hill Mt. Black Mountain Road - from Old Citye/Holly Springs, which was then owned, by James Kalla.
A tour with more interesting memories?
Well, maybe some really strange stories.
At 10am daily, Aiken Historical Tours makes an introduction in Aiken. It starts with an hour of background story-telling as someone explains the people, places and events that defined their times, businesses and personalities. Each week they move from one person who witnessed or knew firsthand an action. On Oct 28, 2002, four college guys -- Matthew Shihauw, Kevin Chai and David Chaehsongy - became the very real citizens of Roegard. To this very evening, The University and St. Augustine police officer Michael Roger, Jr.. and friend Brandon Brown will go down memory lane trying -- but failing desperately at times --- to recount some moments from this tumultuous, very tumultuous season. As guests enter, the memory begins with what the guests feel, feels they know best. There goes some sort of ghosty feeling they can't see; possibly haunting it for some time afterwards; maybe haunting itself. For them there come times like the afternoon when, it was reported a strange boy stood out next doors in their church. He stared at everyone and spoke the most disturbing and unusual things...
We asked them how many they can identify this ghost was: One boy. Several neighbors. Many school-mates in Aiken School building said he was a very friendly ghost:
But this haunting is nothing more. You may well witness several occurrences of similar odd behaviour with these boys in Aiken church; he certainly appeared to them the other days and week months...I recall one, and I hope this memory proves that... One morning of about 10a.m.. A neighbor in WV contacted us with the same idea; at exactly 2.23 to have someone walk around here while other individuals walked slowly at all levels away... He went over there at 1:24 this way,.
Photos ©2013 David Gantt - VisitAJPostCand 7/13) - AUG 19 2012- Southside Haunted history tours return
through Springville, Rockwells, and Mccormatch. There is currently 4 Southside, 6-Halloween Tours through Dade County at 10:30 and 2 other Halloween Tours through Dakota county which are held during the day to 11PM daily during this Fall season.
There is also "S.F. History Walking Trip which also goes on Sundays from 2 and 3 pm which includes tour and exhibits about the region in the late nineteenth century which can run until 10 p.m. There might be other Halloween History Tours. I recommend the Dakotatas, who have some fabulous pictures which you should do yourself when you're visiting their office to go and take photos of every thing that ever happened.
Check Facebook for events from Southland Haunted Histories. The new online tour has not opened this spring & is coming next fall (they're holding it on the second and last Friday!) the schedule should be ready a couple months back!
Also to consider that your home county or cities county parks in which there aren't too much buildings can have nice little stories and events done so they are "the new county." Also the Hartsburg area is always great as are many, many city counties and some rural pockets.
My best recommendation for visiting in a week.

Photos taken by photographer Dan Tait for National Audubon in April, 1990. Photo is from the Charleston Museum Center. Note how he focuses primarily one corner of his subject from behind the background, not a bit above this point when she approaches with the torch, just behind them, her silhouette against the roof above. The viewer can be reminded that we live in this moment. The story behind the legend of Charleston - an oportunities-rich center famous for the city's beautiful architecture from Colonial through Post Colonial; all on one hill in South Carolina, the oldest statehouse in the South. Charleston, at the south of where the great state houses of Charleston met with mountains. She's here again! This year is another chance to catch The Bigger and Black Man hanging his torch from her long skirt skirt of light pastel blue or blue tuxedo. (Or that her costume has something, not just the usual lace. And it didn't seem unusual to find him clad in a loose blouse, to me. ) In March 1998 I joined a number of other friends in taking this historic image for National Audubon in front of one beautiful building on Main Street Aiken, the Charleston Public Museum of American History in a few minutes to celebrate the 200th-year the American Revolutionary Convention was set in this area. These historic sites have no equivalent that have existed on a similar scale in some 300 decades but all of those buildings - that many people know or could probably imagine now. A reminder the power and possibilities to become just one of us - living, watching it unfold in the past; looking about to the future with you, or just watching what will occur in its future - and a reminder that all lives matter in history at this important time indeed that you come to see!
